Leah Daugherty
Leah competed in her first triathlon in April, 2005 at Collegiate Nationals when she was a sophomore at the University of CO at Boulder. Leah immediately fell in love with triathlon and the people who participate in them. Since 2005 she has competed in over 40 triathlons ranging from the sprint to half ironman distance. Her best finishes include placing as the 2nd overall female at the 2007 Age Group World Championships in Hamburg Germany and 2nd at the 2008 Collegiate Nationals. Leah competed as a professional triathlete in 2008 and 2009 and is focusing on training for her first marathon and ultramarathon, as well as any other fun endurance events she runs across, in 2010. As previously mentioned, Leah thinks that the people who participate in triathlons are half the reason that the sport is as fun as it is. She is looking forward to coaching and training with Running Wild’s “My First Tri” team and hopes that all the participants will enjoy triathlon as much as she does.
