Kathy is married to Leland Huey and together they have three extraordinary adult children…Robert, Bradley & Katie. She was born and raised in Mobile but moved to the Eastern Shore 24 years ago and hasn’t looked back since! Outside of Kathy’s job, she loves spending time with her family in Point Clear, fishing the Delta and hitting the beach.

Kathy works at Truland Homes where she is blessed with an awesome job with great people who encourage and emphasize healthy eating and daily exercise. In January of 2017 she decided to pick up running so she could spend more time with her daughter who is a freshman at Auburn. Little did she know that running would soon be in her blood! She has seen how running has changed her life- not only has it been an amazing stress reliever for her, but also has been a new way to challenge herself.

Why did you start running? I started running to spend more time with my daughter, Katie. She is a freshman at Auburn so when I go to visit and when she comes home it is now something we can do together. It is something I never thought I would love so much!

How has Running Wild helped you reach your goals? Everyone at Running Wild is so enthusiastic and supportive. I always feel welcome and comfortable, which is hard to find when you have never run in your life! I truly feel like they genuinely care about every single person that walks through their door.

What was your favorite thing about training with Running Wild? They are there to always answer questions and give advice. They also make me feel like part of the family! I can call/text at any time of day and Missy, Jill, and Meg are there to help me!

What is your greatest (most favorite) athletic/running accomplishment to date and why? I finished this years Spring Fever Chase 3rd in my age group! I was so excited that it motivated me to run the Azalea Trail Race in Mobile and I bettered my time!

Top 5 most important products from Running Wild to help you achieve success? My Hoka Running Shoes I can’t live without! I am seriously obsessed. I never knew how important socks were until Running Wild, so now my Features Socks. With the weather changing, I definitely have been leaning more on hydrating, so I take Nuuns for hydration. My Nike shorts have become my uniform along with my Team Running Wild shirt… DUH!

What is your next athletic goal? I am going to run a 10K in under 55 minutes!!! Jessica and Missy both recently have helped me with adding speed work into my running routine, so I know I will get there! Who knew there were SO many conveniently located hills in Fairhope…. HA!
