Angella is a Christian, a wife, a mother of two young children, and a registered nurse. She is originally from New Orleans where I she met her husband. They relocated to Fairhope, AL two years ago.
Why did you start running?
“I run because I can. I run because, today I am blessed enough to have the ability to run. I run because, I want my daughters to see their mother as a strong woman.
Fifteen years ago I was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis and have been in remission since. Knowing that my health could be compromised has given me a reason to be intentional.
But, I unintentionally began running 7 years ago. I started walking a track and to challenge myself I would run a quarter mile and walk a quarter mile. Running suddenly grew into a passion and not long after, I ran my first half marathon. As an introvert, I enjoyed the solitude that running offered and the ability to go at my own pace.”
What is your favorite thing about training with Running Wild?
“Up until recently I was intimidated to run with a group because I was unsure I would be able to keep up. Running with the Running Wild group has been a wonderful experience. I am learning so much from more experienced runners, find myself going faster than I was, and constantly encouraged. Missy has been such an amazing coach and mentor!”
What is your greatest (most favorite) running accomplishment to date?
“My greatest accomplishment to date is getting my husband to start running. In an effort to get him healthy, I agreed to share his hobby if he would share mine. We recently ran 7 miles along the Seine River in Paris, which was a major bucket list item for me, and he signed up for his first half marathon. In exchange, I flew an airplane for the first time and now consider myself a co-pilot in training!”
